About this place
The salt-lemon yakisoba is a standout at Mikiya. Some diners say it left a lasting impression, and the menu also lets you choose toppings such as pork, squid, prawns or a mix. The okonomiyaki selection ranges from familiar pork and squid versions to mochi-and-mentaiko, mozzarella cheese and seafood mix. One diner singled out the mochi-and-cheese okonomiyaki; there is plenty to choose from if you fancy something different from the classic pork version.
Some reviews also mention the okonomiyaki’s soft, fluffy texture. Modern-yaki, made with yakisoba layered into the pancake, comes in combinations such as pork or squid and pork. Set meals served with rice, pickles, miso soup and tea are another lunch option. They include not only okonomiyaki and yakisoba, but also tonpei-yaki and stir-fried vegetables.
For dinner, small plates include spring rolls with asparagus and prawns, as well as tonpei-yaki. Drinks range from beer and sake to chu-hi in flavours such as lemon, yuzu and ume. You can eat in or order takeaway. One customer who took okonomiyaki away remarked that it held its shape.
